Dec 2025 – SmartPropertyManager.com & Making Tax Digital – Live & Ready

We’re excited to announce that SmartPropertyManager’s Making Tax Digital (MTD) support for Income Tax is now complete and available for early customer use!

As part of the UK government’s initiative to modernise tax reporting, HMRC is introducing Making Tax Digital for Income Tax — a requirement for sole traders and landlords to keep digital records and submit quarterly updates to HMRC via recognised software.

What’s New

Over the past months we’ve been hard at work building and testing SmartPropertyManager’s integration with HMRC’s Income Tax MTD service. We’re delighted to confirm that:

  • HMRC has recognised SmartPropertyManager as meeting the technical requirements for integration with the Income Tax MTD service — meaning our software can be trusted to work with HMRC’s Making Tax Digital system.

  • We have completed the core development work on the integration and rolled it out for customers to begin using in preparation for the 2026 MTD deadlines.

Early Testing Now Underway

We have started testing the new Income Tax MTD integration with a select group of customers, and early feedback has been encouraging.

If you’d like to join our early testing round, please get in touch — we welcome additional customer volunteers to help us refine the experience before full rollout.

What This Means for You

Once connected to HMRC through SmartPropertyManager:

  • You will be able to prepare and submit the required quarterly updates to HMRC directly from your account. SmartPropertyManager will automatically calculate the figures to submit from the income and expenditure records you have recorded.

  • You will be ready to meet your MTD reporting obligations ahead of the statutory start dates.

Our goal has always been to make tax compliance as smooth and efficient as possible, and this latest milestone is a big step toward that. We’ll continue improving the experience and sharing updates as we go.

If you have any questions, or would like to join the early testing round, please contact our team — we’re here to help!

We’ll continue to keep you updated on new features we add to SmartPropertyManager. And as always, please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have questions or if you have any suggestions on how we can make SmartPropertyManager work better for you.

Best regards,
SPM Team
